Hello all,
Almost 2 years ago (1 3/4) I bought a refurbished APC Back-Ups Pro 650 from APC. It's been a very good UPS, but I'm starting to have problems. It is one of my two UPSes, the other being a Pro 1100 which I have yet to have problems with. Most of my stuff is on the 1100, but my computer, network switch, WAP, and some other things are on the 650.
Probably about 2 months ago it came on with it's beeping in the middle of the night with the power overload light on. I shut down my computer and the other things on the UPS and shut down the unit. I thought maybe the battery was bad, so I started getting ready to send it in to be replaced. The warranty had run out, so on a whim I turned it on again. It went through the normal test and came on just fine. It's been running fine since then, even though a big ice storm that left the power on and off for at least 2 hours. Just this last night it did the beeping thing again. I shut it off, went back to sleep, turned it on when I woke up, and everything is just fine again.
Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing these random overloads? Obviously it's not really overloading since night is when my PC is in it's lowest power consumption. Also, I know it wasn't buffering from the battery since my other UPS didn't kick in.
Thanks,
Swan
