So yesterday i was doing some overclocking with my new precious XP 2700+. This is not unlocked, but i try for some good fsb overclock anyways. My computer get worked, doesnt post. I reset the CMOS and everything is happy, except It says i'm running 6.5 X 166!! When i change multi to 12.5/13 it says warning overclock! so i run os with this 6.5 x 166 and everything game wise works works fine and Sandra and System in control panel tell me im running 2700+ speed.
Any suggestions?

BTW: i flashed the BIOS to G version and problem is still there

its actually 6.5 x 2 x 166=2166mhz
which is the amd xp 2700+ setting
so you shouldn't worry

i had (well still having) the same problem...and it seems other people are having the same, check out this other thread

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=28&threadid=942089

they say to downgrade to 1001.c, my board came with 1001.g and it shows fsb = 133 and multiplier = 7.5 ( i have a xp2400) these are not the correct settings..... using wcpuid i get fsb = 133 and multiplier = 15 which are the right settings..... i haven't flashed the bios to 1001.c yet, but you might want to try that out....

hope this helps

??

download wcpuid from www.h-oda.com to be sure...

6.5(processor multiplier) x 2(works like ddr) x 166fsb
but many mobo manufactures skip the x2 part and just show it as 11,12,13,etc,etc
i read this somewhere on the net last year
