My comp is getting rebooted again and again for no reason.
its happening quite frequently.i get no message or any error report.
it just konks of on its own and restarts.

My comp's configuration is

Athlon XP 2500+
MSI K7N2 Delta series(motherboard)
Kingston 256 MB ram @ 400 MHz
AGP card is an old one from my previous comp.
it is a MSI Geforce MX 32MB SDRAM based.
Maxtor 30GB HDD.

I thought initially its because of rama nd replaced with another DIMM but no solution.
its still rebooting and its happening quite frequently.
Temperature of my comp goes up tp 53 degree at times.though i heard at the forum only that many people are running their 2500 XP+ at 2.2 Ghz by overclocking the FSB to 200Mhz. even i can do that and i tried and it did happen but then i pushed it back to its normal 1833Mhz fearing that this could cause more restarts.
pls i need help on this ASAP.
also if i change my FSB to 200Mhz and run my comp at 3200XP + at 2.2 Ghz will it cause any problems or change my system temperature further.i have just installed a system fan too to keep heating up in check.

thanx a lot.pls help me out in this ASAP.

Normally it your ram, ram timings. I see you did change your ram. Maybe check your timings. Loosen them up.

On my system I normally only get this problem due to ram timings.

Did you install any kind of software?
Are you able to post?
Did you hit "F8" and revert to last known good settings?

I had a similar experience this morning when I loaded the patch to RecordNow Max and the DLA product. I had to uninstall DLA before my machine wouldn't reboot automagically.

thanx so much for replying.

i was thinking it was because of some conflict between the old SD ram based geforce 2 32 mb card and the new Motherboard which supports DDR based ram.do u think this could be the reason.

no i did not install any special software.same normal apps which i had been using before.

also if i can change my comp's FSB to 200 and can make it run as a 3200+ at 2.2 ghz shall i do it?
will it make rebooting frequent?
heating up can't cause rebooting or it can?

or shall i get my Motherboard replaced?i can ,its new and under warranty.
pls reply.

The mainboard doesn't care about what the graphics card does behind the AGP connector, that's not it.

You're not seriously asking about overclocking if it doesn't even run right at stock speeds, are you?

Is the power supply adequate?

thanx for replying peter.

well, i am using 300W power supply. i said AGP card cos thats the only conflict i thought is responsible.
my old AGP has SD RAM and new MOBO supports and has DDR RAM 256 MB kingston @ 400 Mhz.will they both be compatible?
or shall i change the supply to 350W.
i have just replaced my old AGP with new ATI RADEON PRO 9200 series 8x just to check what happens and if it solves the problem or not?
waiting for ur reply eagerly.
thanx

well normally you shouldn't even think about overclocking when your system does not even run stabily at stock setting. When you system runs fine with no restarts or hangs then you start work on overclocking. So get overclocking out of your head for now.. wait for later..

As for your current system, What is the stock speed of the ram at which you are running it at 400mhz, are these ddr3200? did you try running these at 166mhz?

What CPU fan are you using? Does it come with your cpu? Did you increase your cpu core voltage? Did you try running it at 133mhz?

Is your motherboard refurbish? Newegg?
what other driver are in your system, CD-rom, burner etc?

What kind of power are you using? name??

"Ok. Pretty much with all the info you have given me so far ,, most likely it's your powersupply becuase 300w is kinda almost under power, You should get a name brand power supply because it's all about how smooth and consistant the current that's coming out of your powersupply instead of just 350watt, 400watt. Also sometime cd-rom/burners cause some rebooting on certain systems too, not laiky but it happen for time to time.
