I can't fromat floppies, even after a clean install of 98se. What I found was if I didn't load the ndis2sup.vxd driver I could. What does this file do? Do I need it? Everything seems to work fine when I don't load it.

ndis2sup.vxd - this file is used for by your nic card.

Your format problem sounds like you have the floppy disk copy protected. Make sure the tab is set to close and you should be able to format. Let me know if this works.

Well, I had already tried everything you guys suggested. Here's what the problem was. It was my modem. It is an ISA hardware 56K pnp. It was causing the problem when it was set to plug and play. On one of my numerous reboots, it lost the modem and 98 wanted to install the drivers for it. I didn't and I was able to format. When I loaded the modem drivers, I couldn't format. I removed the modem completely and could format again. Reinstalled the modem and the drivers, couldn't format. So I set the modem's IRQ and Com and reinstalled. I happy to report that everything is working OK. Thanks for the responses.

If i ever hear of a stranger problem i'll let you know.
Who knew. Modem interfering with a floppy like that.
Anyway, good to here it's fixed.
