Strange Problem - Battlefield 1942 (FIXED)

Got the retail version of the game yesterday. It runs beautifully. No choppyness, run high detail, etc.

BUT, my problem is simply, when I'm playing, if I hit "escape" to get back out to the main menu, the whole programs closes. I go back to my desktop.

I have no idea what is going on. Like I said, the game runs incredible.

Please let me know if anybody knows the cause/solution for this. I get NO errors when this happens. It's like a normal shutdown.

OK, I'm a moron I guess. I was playing with CD 2 in instead of CD 1, so when I changed it, all of my problems were fixed! D'oh!

So it allows you to start the game using CD2, but when you hit escape you're saying it does a cd check? The menu is a chug fest even on the demo, I could only imagine how bad it is if it checks your cd everytime you hit escape. I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but damn this game needs a ton of work....

In my case, yes. BUT, I talked to a friend of mine and he runs it on CD 2 with NO problems. SO, I have no idea why this was happening in my case.
