Strange problem. Any ideas???

My system in short: KR7A-133R, 1800+, Leadtek Ti4600, Iiyama i90a 19", 27.70's and Via 4.38's and WinME. Sometimes upon booting my desktop in cut into three different sections, with nothing but Black between the three sections. I have three mouse cursors also. Basically, three small desktops running vertical. I never had this problem with my previous system which but it was a little different. I have everything the same except I had a Leadtek Ti500 instead of the Ti4600 and I was running Via 4.37's and a different set of drivers. This problem is random and I can't figure it out. I did notice that when it happens my monitor doesn't make the "Click" sound when the desktop first comes up. I'm running 1280x1024 as I have always with this monitor. I have also tried the 28.32's and 28.90's. Still the same random problem. Could this be a timing issue? Maybe I should switch to the 4.37's. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kent

This happens when the monitor doesn't manage to sync up to the horizontal scan rate coming from the card. It'll then occasionally sync up to every other HSync pulse, or like in your case, every 3rd pulse.

Usually this means the HSync signal isn't OK, or way too fast. Isn't there a widely discussed refresh rate issue with that latest NVidia driver?

Peter, First thanks for replying. Yes, there is an issue, but I didn't know if that was it or not. So you think it's the refresh rate problem? If so, i'll try the drivers with the refresh rate fix. Thanks again, Kent

OK. Been playing around over the last couple weeks and this is what I've found. This problem only occurs in WinME. It does not occur in XP Pro at all. In WinME, it does not matter what combo of Via 4in1's, Highpoint, NVIDIA drivers or Iiyama drivers. In XP Pro it has never happened. Now, I do disable the NView upon installing whatever version I use in WinME. Could this be the problem? Enable NView? What about changing the timing for the monitor? Thanks again, Kent
