Because the new GTX 1070 provides better performance than the GTX 980 Ti, plus more features, more RAM, and lower power consumption. The GTX 980 Ti is now a discontinued product, on clearance.

Because Nvidia wants to maintain the equity of the Titan brand by not dropping the price of any Titan products below $999, even if that means it takes forever to clear existing stock.

probable

titan (1st) and Titan Black ---------> more than 1000euro here
titan z -------------- > more than 2000euro here

but this strategy is working well, it s impossible to find a titan (also the older ) at low price.
(in the opposite gtx 780ti costs 160e)

here a old titan/titan black USED costs more than a 980ti new 🙁

Nvidia has a rebate program for the 980Ti's, they've not bothered to do so for the titan x since it's such a low volume part.
