Strange POST beep

Heya,

Having a bit of trouble with my mb (abit kd7-raid). I changed some bios settings to push my mem a bit harder then rebooted. Since then I've not got anything out of the machine except a bizarre POST beep (1 long, 2 short then a long lower tone and then a second long tone, even lower - almost siren like).

According to all the info I've managed to dig up, the first part refers to a video error - but swapping out my GF2 does nothing, and neither does trying a PCI graphics card. I've tried moving memory around, in and out of different banks, and using a different stick that I know works. Still nothing.

I've never come across this before and I've got no-where seaching the web - pls help - you guys are my only hope!

Just to add, some motherboards need the power supply turned off(or unplugged) to clear the CMOS.

yeah... tried all that stuff - no joy whatsoever. I did get a different POST code (continuous long beeps) when I swapped some RAM around but unfortunately I'd just installled it badly and created a second problem.

I've spoken to the techs at my vendor and they've told me to RMA the board as they think the BIOS chip itself is dead. I've got a mate with the same board so I'm going to try and persuade him to 'lend' me his BIOS chip. I don't get why I need to RMA the board though - can't they just send me a new BIOS?

Next time I'm gonna buy a Gigabyte board. DualBIOS - I love you.

Thanks for your advice guys - but it actually turns out that the second post beep (the weird siren) was actually indicating that the BIOS chip itself was faulty. I actually had a spare one to test with and that sorted it.

Again cheers.
