It is probably getting a bit too late and I can't think straight but from memory, I have not encountered this before.
About 4-5 days ago I setup a small network for my neighbor. One desktop and 2 laptops, all running XP Pro. He does not need much, just file and mostly printer sharing.
Did the normal setup, all fine. All 3 computers can see each other and logon to each other. All good.
He sends me an email today saying that he tried to burn a CD on his desktop and he got an error message that he does not have proper permissions to save to that drive!! He says he also tried the same on the 2 laptops and got the same error!
Problem is, I am away for business for a few days so I cannot play with the setup (which as I said, is basic). So, what gives? Why would a LOCAL, Administrator account NOT have the proper permissions to burn to the drive?
I should say that 2 of the computers have virgin XP installations so I am sure all this is, is some kind of issue with the networking setup. Also, over the phone I told him how to create a new User on the desktop with administrator privileges and try that.
