Strange PC behavior

I've got a real stumper here:

my PC will go along on the power up process, then at some point just power off. It will do this several times regardless of which partition I am boot to. Sometimes it does even get to windows.

But once it boots up everything is fine. It doesn't freeze or power off or any other problem.

Does anybody have any idea what the cause of this is?

* Note * This behavior started occuring when I connected an ink jet printer to my PC and put it on the same power strip. Don't know if that means anything.

TIA! :)

Is the inkjet on when you boot up?
Do you turn the inkjet on at the same time as powering on the computer?
Have you tried putting the inkjet on a different surge strip or outlet?
