I am having problems overclocking this chip. It won't even post at 2.4 with the voltage at max. The chip has done 2.67 at 1.575V on an ASUS P4B266 without any problems. I have tried using 1 stick of RAM, disabling everything onboard. Any ideas what may be causing this? Can motherboards make that big of a difference in an overclock? Thanks in advance.

🙂I agree that is pretty bad to not even get to 2.4 gig with a 2.0 processor I have the same mobo and had it at 145fsb x 1.8 a northwood = 2.61ghz and it ran stable as long as I had voltage at 1.65 to cpu , I had to set pci/agp divider at pll16 to keep pci bus under 40, this board doesn't o/c as good as the asus p4b266 series but should still easily do 2.4 gig, I like the board because the one I have is still a reasonably good O/C , is SUPER stable and has the usb 2.0 and smartcard features I need, But on viewing your problems you may have gotten a dud .😉

A motherboard or chip dud? Have any idea what could cause such a discrepancy between the two boards? Thanks.

🙂you say you've had the chip to 2.67ghz on asus board so I think your board is a dud.I have no idea why such a difference between the boards, all applications on mine worked fine at 145 fsb , I have toned it down to 136 fsb= 2.45ghz as I didn't want the cpu volt to run at 1.65 as I only have stock cooling and no case fans , at 136fsb I have cpu volt at 1.575 and idle temp is 38 - 40c and spikes to 56c under intense gaming which is expected.
