Strange overclocking behavior

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone here can help me with a very strange problem I have when OC'ing my computer.

If I choose "shutdown" my system powers off and stays off as it should, no problem there. But if I choose restart, it powers off and then immediately powers back on again. This happens when saving and exiting changes in BIOS as well.

I've had two "completely" different system builds in the last two years and both of them have done this. The only common denominator is that both systems have had Asus motherboards but different models . My previous system had a P5GD2 Premium. This only happens when OC'ing past a certain point. On my old board it was after going past 212 FSB. On my current P5B, I haven't determined the point yet.

I've gotten used to it and never thought to ask again until now. It doesn't seem to be causing any problems other than a curious annoyance. Asus tech support was unable to shed any light on the subject. Thanks for any help.

What do you expect it to do?

Well normally when you choose restart, the system exits Windows and restarts warm, not completely powers off and then back on again all by itself. Anyone elses system do this?

I have upgraded to P965 DS3 now.
Now, I see what you mean! The fans stop spinning and then start again! That is unusual behavior I have not seen before either!
It does it occasionally though. May be 20% of the time when exiting the BIOS only.
