hey everyone

Ive got a stange problem at the moment on my system. When I used to run win2k i could use OE with MSN messengger and the online status of my contacts would be displayed in the 'my contacts' window in IE with the proper names of the contacts from the address book.

Now im running winXP and only Windows messenger seems to integrate into OE, MSN messenger doesnt display anything in the contacts window and Ive lost the option to set any of my addressbook contacts as 'online contacts'.

Anyone have anyideas what could be wrong or how I can fix it?

cheers
c.

Nothing's wrong. XP used to be the exclusive domain of Windows Messenger. Only since v5.0 can you install MSN Messenger on XP, but integration with OE is still owned by Windows Messenger...that cannot be changed.

Are they not the same? Doesn't the MSN messy that's installed with XP want the same updates, etc.?

No, they are two entirely different IM clients, with different user interfaces, different service logon capabilities, a few different features, etc.

MSN Messenger does not come pre-installed on XP, only Windows Messenger does. And no, MsnMsgr and WinMsgr do not share updates.
