hi all,
i am getting errors and crashing when running 3dmark2001se but only in a particular configuration.
i have;
abit nf7-s nforce2 mb
evga gf4ti4600
xp2400+
512mb true samsung pc2700
samsung 171p
i'm running the latest nforce unified drivers which includes the detonator 40.72
samsung monitor inf drivers (1280 x 1024 native resolution)
xp pro sp1
latest 3dmark2001se
everything at stock speeds and voltages

here is the problem --- when running 3dmark2001se in default mode (1024 x 768) about 50% of the time i will get hard crash or application error. the message in the event viewer shows as a system error of 2 types

type 1

source = nv
description = Scan Line Update not detected on Mode Switch Head=1 X=1280 Y=960 Refresh=60

type 2

source = nv
description = Scan Line Update not detected on Mode Switch Head=1 X=1280 Y=1024 Refresh=60

here's the fun part --- if i set the resolution in the 3dmark2001se benchmark to 1280 x 1024 then it runs flawlessly with no errors. it also handles the codecreatures benchmark at 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 with no errors.

i dont think that it's hardware. this card worked flawlessly in my p4pe/2.4b system with the same monitor and software except that it was w2k.

i have done many reinstalls, latest detonators, etc. same results
has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Recently had same problem...NVidia drivers were not for my machine even though I got them on their site/directions....cured by going to Hercules (Manufacturer) using theirs....rt
