First off, I have a sony vaio notebook....

So I recently installed a new hard drive, and it didnt neccessarily "crash" but it started acting up, and making a "clicking" sound, not the sound when a hard drive crashes, I know that sound all too well. Anyway, I took the new hard drive out, then reinstalled it, ran all the recovery programs and now it only works when I DO NOT replace the screws that hold it down. When I even replace one, it freezes and I have to restart it without the screws in place, where it is almost "floating." Any and all opinons and help greatly appreciated!!!

That is weird.... I hope it under warranty....

Try this at your own risk ...but i presume you can double tape (foam tape) it down in place ....

Specific model of machine?

The DK23CA family of Hitachi drives have a known "clicking" issue, and were widely used by Sony in a number of FX/FXA series of machines. A firmware fix exists that addresses this particular issue, but would be wise to list both the model of machine and the hard drive model as well prior to proceeding.
