Strange Nforce GART ptoblem

Guys, I have some issues some issues with my new video card i was hoping you guy could help me out.

I have an Asus A7n266-c (nforce) motherboard, xp 1800 and the video card is gforce 5700le.

Anyway i uninstalled the drivers for my old card, put this one in and installed the latest nvidia drivers. When i restarted my computer my comp crashed and restarted immediately after the XP login screen. After some troubleshooting i realized that somehow the new card was conflicting with something in the NForce drivers. After some more testing i realized that removing the nforce GART driver allowed my comp to function normally.

Now my question is what the hell is a gart driver and is my computer fine without it? I always thought that was the driver for the agp slot on the mobo, if so wont my card run really poorly without those drivers? Also why the hell would an Nvidia card conflict with an nvidia chipset?

Did you try also giving it the latest nVidia nForce driver package? Besides that, try setting the onboard AGP to UC instead of UCSW if necessary (this setting is in the BIOS). I don't know if that particular card uses an auxiliary power cable or not, but if it needs one, make sure it's hooked up.

i have tried the older nforce drivers i had installed, and the newest ones on nvidia's page. Ill try the bios setting when i get home, thanks.

Im having the same problems as this guy. I have an Abit An7 Nforce 2 mobo. I have a ATI 9200 video card. Whenever I load either the new or the old GART driver, the screen becomes blurry and undreadable. Without the driver the video card does not work properly.

There are a bunch of stuff online describing how removing the GART driver is necessary when installing an ATI card in an nForce2 motherboard. Apparently the GART driver is optimized for nV cards and royally screws with ATI cards. General consensus is to 1) Not install it from the nForce drivers if you don't have a standalone nV video card and 2) definitely remove it before installing ATI cards.
