Strange new Hard Drive problem

I have a 14gb Western Digital 7200 rpm drive and it has just started acting wierd.
If I softboot or simply hit the reset button the motherboard will not see it everytime.
However if I completely shut the system off it works perfect everytime.
The timing is very strange as well. I just got broadband. At first I used the USB
connection and this is when the Hard Drive started acting up, but now I use a NIC and it
still happens. I really don't see any connection other then the timing.
Is my hard drive on it's way out? I have run multiple tests on it once it's seen and there is no corruption
or apparent problems.

Thanks,
Mark

No I have had the motherboard and hard drive for some time now.
All my other drives are seen fine by the system. I have 1 Maxtor 40gb on the same chain as the master.
1 HP CDRW, 1 Pioneer DVD drive on the other chain. I have 2 Quantum SCSI drives on my adaptec controller.
All the other drives are seen fine. The Western Digital drive has been running fine in this config, except for the broadband, for
a few months with no major problems. I have a 400 watt Antec PSU and before that a 300 watt unit worked fine as well.
I have never run the broadband on both the NIC and USB at the same time. It has always been 1 or the other.
It can't be an OS problem, because the bios doesn't see it.

The truly strange thing is that if I hard boot it works perfect. It's only an issue when I softboot or reset.

I did just change out my PSU about five days ago, but the HD was working perfect at least for awhile and 3 of the other HD's are working perfect.

Problem solved and believe it or not the Western Digital knowledge base had the answer.
I had the drive in the wrong position on the cable. It seems that ATA 66/100 drives are more
picky about where they are on the chain then ATA 33 drives were.
