First off let me preface this post by saying that I am very much a novice when it comes to networking. Actually this is my first attempt to get my home network up and running. I have installed one network card in each of my computers, same brand, I forget the name. The hub that I have is an older ati centercom hub/router that I believe works. One of the machines actually locks up when i plug the cable into it. Both machines, when not locked up, only see their own shared resources over the network, and not each other. To the best of my ability I believe that I have installed the right protcals nd installed the NICs correctly.
