Strange Netflix thing...

So I see this banner across Netflix pages... 'We have tried to send you important account information, but your email address is invalid, please update'.

While I continue to receive Netflix email at the address they say is invalid.

So I call the help number. Guy is asking for confirmation, gets to 'what are the last four digits of your credit card?'... I tell him, then he says 'OH, I need the four digits before that...'.

I hung up.

Has anyone ever encountered someone asking for 8 digits of your credit card to confirm it was you? Felt like I was being fished.

If the number was not 1-866-658-3608 you were almost certainly netted by a phisher.

My thoughts exactly. How does a banner like that appear on a site I've been using for years (assuming it's shady).

But when the guy asked me for the 'other' 4 digits of my CC... do you just assume you made a mistake when two fishy things happen? Why I asked if anyone EVER had a CS rep ask for more than the last 4 digits.

@ DaveSimmons Yes, that is the number I called. Just can't wrap my mind around them sending me email, but saying it's invalid, and then a cs rep asking me for 4 more numbers of my CC... added up to fishy in my mind.

Your instincts were good, I'm sure. One way to check would be to access the pages from someone else's computer, or access the database using their mobile app. I bet you don't see any messaging.
