Strange mouse problem (Logitech MX500)

So occasionally (getting more frequent) my mouse will lock up and the cursor disappears entirely but also on occasion it locks up, the cursor is still there but it won't move or respond at all. Today. while playing BF2 it did this while I was firing a machine gun and the mouse kept responding to that button, as if I was still holding that fire button.

I tried deleting the mouse from my system and having windows redetect it but this didn't solve anything.

Suggestions?

I was going to just buy a new mouse at first but this really seems to be a software issue.
 
Happened with my MX510 and MX300. It sucks. I had tried plugging it in to different USB ports, no avail. My other mouse (MX500) worked fine. I just bought a new MX518 and everything is fine now.
