Strange mouse problem in WindowsXP

So far, I believe I've only seen this happen within the game World of Warcraft, however, it affects the desktop as well and doesn't clear until the machine is rebooted.

I don't know if it's the game that's causing it or some problem with the mouse drivers or maybe even a USB problem.

Has anyone ever seen this and managed to correct it? What happens is that the pointer stops tracking with the mouse. You can see icons highlighted and the buttons work, for example, right clicking will bring up the display menu, but the pointer stays fixed in one spot.

Could this also be a graphics driver problem?

From what you've posed, I think the most likely culprit is your video driver. It is responsible for generating the cursor, if the underlying movement is being detected, something is 'broke' there. You running the latest for your card?

It's a new GeForce 6800GT. I'm running some beta drivers so, that's a good starting point. I'll back down to a previous set and see if that clears things. Thanks.
