Strange Monitor Problem

First, my specs:

Radeon 64mb DDR
Generic CompUSA 17" monitor-supports up to 1024x768 res @ 60Hz
Running in 800x600
900 T-Bird
128 DDR RAM
Win '98 SE
Cable-excellent connection

The Problem:

The screen will randomly lock up or my screen will go black and I get this monitor error msg.

looks something like:

signal error
vHz 26.7
hHz 42.6

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it a setting? Where can I go to learn more about this?

I get that from time to time on my Geforce 2 GTS 64mb Hercules on my ViewSonic PF790 19 inch that does 1600x1200

But it only did it when I was playing around with the drivers...

maybe you got some bootie drivers..

try updating it.. to the lastest one.
