Strange message when trying to log on to the network

I have set up a Windows 2000 Server and another pc with Windows XP Pro. I made a user in Windows 2000 Server and when i try to log on from WindowsXP i get the message "The current time on this computer and the current time on the network are different. For more information about Date/Time properties, see help and support. To log on, contact your system administrator."

I've gotten that at work sometimes when setting up new pc's also. I've never figured out why it does that. I usually have to look at a pc that's logged onto the network and change the other pc's time to match it and then restart and log on real quick so it doesn't change. I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone has an answer.

The time is usually synced with that of the server. This is useful for obvious reason as well as for software such a bloomberg which can use electronic data keys that generate new log-on keys every 30 seconds.

Edit: and the server often syncs with an online time server

Starting w/ W2K...the logons can use kerberos for authentication. But, kerberos depends on the machine times being within 5 minutes of each other.
