Strange mbm temp reading

The other day I got my 2.53 and Albatron PX845PEV Pro in. In the bios it reads my temps as 28C cpu and 33C system. I get those same temps in mbm but one of my sensors also reads 69C. What the heck in my case could possible be 69C? Everything is super stable so I'm not really worried but I was just curious. The sensor displaying that temp is reading off Winbond 2 just in case anyone else has this board and has noticed something like this.

Maybe this should be in motherboards? Not sure...

Does this temp show up in the BIOS? If not, it is probably just a MBM problem. It seems strange readings are quite frequent.

No, it doesn't show in the bios. The only temps that show there are cpu and system which read at 28C and 33C respectively. Anyone else have any ideas?

If your worried thats your CPU sensor, my suggestion would be to get something that loads your processor like Prime95, CPUBurn, etc.... and watch which sensor has the fastest, largest change. That is most likely your CPU Sensor. Its very possible that the one that is reading high doesn't mean anything.

flxnimprtmscl, go to MBM's website and check out the motherboard list for your motherboard settings. They are pretty specific. If that still doesn't work, post in their forums, Alex usually responds within a day or 2.

I've heard that Sensor 2 diode + 15 before, but I have found that winbond 1 for system temp and winbond 3 for cpu temp matches the BIOS on my PX845PEV Pro. I get that 69 sometimes too but I ignore it. What I've found is that most boards that use the Winbond W83627HF I/O chip use winbond1/winbond2 diode for temps, but the PEV Pro doesn't. I've emailed Albatron about this a few times and all I hear is they are working on thier own hardware monitor and to use the BIOS temps for now. So again, winbond 1 and 3 match the BIOS system and CPU respectively so I use those.

FYI I've read an old thread on the MBM forums about this and discussed it with a few other owners of this mobo on the overclockers.com forums and they arrived at the same conclusions.

I wrote this off as a false reading a few days ago but I still have a question. While searching for an answer on this I ran into the above mentioned "use sensor 3 for winbond 2 and add 15C" answer several times. Why bother with that? Since mbm reports the same temps as the bios for cpu why mess with the idea mentioned above? Any good reasons that I just don't understand?

I believe the +15C measurement came from someone who has ran the same chip in several boards with the same heatsink and only the albatron was different. If you search through enough threads you can find that thread.

Motherboard manufacturers can "adjust" the reading that comes from the on-die sensor to say (bios temps) whatever they want. Would be nice if the on-die sensor outputted an actual digital number that says XX.XC but it don't.
