My mom(which lives like a thousand miles away), was checking her e-mail, through outlook, she got a virus alert from norton, which said it was unrepairable, in triNDJIJ.htm (WTF) It won't repair it, Norton quarintined it, she tryed to repair it agin, and it said that Norton is aware of the virus and that it deletes programs, and that she should delete the file and replace it with a copyed one?????
what should she do as the next step?

P.S. It is hard as hell trying to sort this kinda thing out with your computer iliterate mom on the other end of the phone!!!!

Just tell her to right-click the e-mail and delete it, then empty the trashcan. Unless the e-mail is from someone she knows and she was expecting it, why would she want to keep it? She might have to temporary disable Norton AV.

The htm virus is a little strange, but I don't know enough about HTML code to say that it's not impossible.

HTML files can contain VB Script which, under the right circumstances, can do nasty things to your computer. Chances are that the HTML file was intentionally malicious (so there's really nothing for Norton to repair) and probably not worth saving.

Just another reason why I disable Windows Scripting...

On a side note, did the thread title remind anyone else of Tori Amos' upcoming album Strange Little Girls? :p
