Strange Laptop Wireless Issue

I have a Compaq F730US laptop that is my second system. Recently the wireless adapter has intermittently stopped working.

When it is not working it appears to be disabled and is not recognized by Windows 7. I can go into the bios, reload the defaults and the wireless adapter will work until the laptop is rebooted or resumes from sleep mode. If I do a cold boot the adapter will still work.

I have Windows 7 home premium installed on the system and it has been running great for a long time now.

I did recently install the Internet Explorer 9 beta, but I have now uninstalled it.

Any Ideas?

Laptop Wi-Fi often has two main controls. One, a master on/off slide switch, and two, a software power on/off switch sometimes accessed by a Fn combo keystroke. On my laptops, the wi-fi automatically turns power off if not used for a given amount of time. This is very normal and by design to save battery power and provide better privacy.
