Here's the deal

Rebuilded an old PC from scrap parts that was laying around for years in storage.

Everything is working fine and running nice, EXCEPT! for the Sound Card.

It is an ISA - Sound Blaster AWE64, Windows recognized and installed the right drivers and all.

But it always has the yellow ! in Device Manager.

if you check the details, the Resources that it requires are all available

DMA 1, 5
IRQ 5

there is no listing of any conflict with any other device

even if i use Manual mode instead of Automatic mode to assign the resources, then it automatically goes back to not using any resources.

The box is very vanilla, i dissabled everything like build in IDE / COM / LTP in the BIOS already.

the only thing installed to the Mobo is the PCI SATA card / AGP nVidia / ISA AWE64

anyone got a clue what could it be? :(

yes the AWE 64 works fine in DOS and Win9x

What does Device Status in device properties say? Tried drivers from Creative's website (if there are any for ISA cards)?

never mind, it's working now

i just switched to another ISA Slot, and it works now.

seems like the previous ISA slot was sharing some memory address with something else, but Windows couldn't detect the minor conflict.

working fine now in the new slot
