Strange Internet Explorer problem

Im connecting to the Internet via cable from a LAN. OS is Win 2000 and everytime I restart my computer and attempt to get on the Internet via Internet Explorer, I get prompted to "Work offline" or "Try again". When I hit "Try again", everything seems to be fine.

I only get the prompt when I turn on the comp in the morning or after a restart.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks

under your tools -> internet properties -> connections -> lan settings: is it checked for "automatically detect lan settings"?

what version of IE are you using?
Also, how quickly are you opening IE after windows fully loads, cause even after loading it is still making network connections. So it may be that you're just to dang quick for it.

I'm not sure which version... It's the version that came with Win2000 Pro.

I clicked the IE almost immediately. I suppose that may be the problem. I'll have to test that when I get home from work.

Well, just tested to see if I was too quick for the network to no avail. I waited a good 2-3 minutes and still got the same message.

That same thing would happen to me everytime I would reinstall w2kPRO. So I tried updating my IE and everything is OK now. I'm running IE6sp1 now and working correctly.
