Strange hum coming from my LCD

I noticed the other day my ViewSonic makes a slight hum whenever it's displaying a signal. It doesn't happen when the monitor is on but without a signal from the computer.

What could be causing this?

Prolly the power supply. Mine makes an annoying beep beep noise when it is in standby but none when switched off.

Never known one to make a noise when on and displaying a signal though.

True, fluorescent lights can hum but never known such LCD BLU to do so. I would look into a warranty claim if it did it while in use (standby beeping is annoying enough).

Ever notice how florescent lights will sometimes buzz or hum. Its the same thing with the back lighting of the LCD. Its just the electronic hum of the power circuits of the back lighting. It could be a sign that there is a problem but chances are everything is fine.
