Strange HTTP Requests...

I've got over 3000+ requests for /default.idabut I just started noticing requests for cgi scripts and dlls with the referers all being porn sites... Any ideas? I know my webdesigning site isn't listed on any porn sites 😉

The porn sites are probably running some sort of Crawler software to search out servers to distribute their product. As long as your server denies access to these hits, you're probably alright.

I get tons of hits from search engine crawlers that constantly check to see that my webpages are active.

RUSS, you ain't got no PM so I'll ask here.

Do you remember how to check for an infected machine? i know there are a few CR variants out there but I thought you could check by telnetting into port 80.

PM or e-mail me if you could please.

Spidey,

I have no idea how to check for presence by telnetting in, unless you'd just do a find on the associated files. I'm lazy, I just use the scanner that eEye wrote.🙂 If you don't already have it, you can grab it here.

Russ, NCNE
