Strange heat problem, what could be causing this?

Some of you may remember me trying to overclock my athlon xp. I wasnt able to go over 1481mhz, my system would either not start up or shutdown halfway through windows starting.

My CPU temp was never high, and after it shutting down it was always at around 39c, as it hadnt been running 100% much just to start windows. My videocard i do not believe is overheating as i've had it at 310/650 with no crashes at all, this is a Gf4 ti 4400 that is normally 275/550. I did also try this with it at stock stock. Same thing happens.

Not to mention I have tried upping the voltage by .2v, same exact thing happens, I am not able to go any higher than i was before.

Right now I have a house fan pointed at my case, and it booted up fine at 1500mhz, normally this would not even boot. So my problem is, what is overheating in my computer thats making me instantly reboot and/or hang?

I am thinking possibly my RAM, powersupply or my chipset cooler. My RAM is DDR 2100 crucial, and i highly doubt it would overheat with such little FSB overclocking. Powersupply could be the culprit, although i have no way of testing this anyway. Maybe somebody at the factory forgot to put some thermal compound on my chipset cooler? Do they even have thermal compound?

And yes my case cooling is good, I have a 90mm intake, and a 80mm outtake + PSU.
Can anyone give me some insight here?

My specs are in my rig link in my sig.

Thanks in advance.

no offense guy but why in the world must you overclock your pc? cant you be happy at stock speeds? your pc sounds like its fast enough. Also you are in the wrong forum! By the way the best upgrade you could do for your pC would be to get a faster HD! AND NOT OC!

I agree with Dreadogg trash that cheesy HDD and upgrade. BTW, what PSU do you have and whats the combined output? Have you checked the voltages in the bios to see if any are dipping low? What HS/F are you using with that XP?
