Strange HDD situation, help needed

Alright, so I've been running with two HDDs in my system for a while now, C: and D:, WinXP being installed on D:.

The thing is, I need to take out C: permanently, but it contains some of the OS loading info.

Is there a way to take out C: and just leave D: as it is, having moved over the data from C:? Or must I do a clean install?

All help is very much appreciated!

Just take out C: and fdisk the D: drive to make it active.

When you boot up, it'll come up with an error or it may not. If it does, just hit enter once and it'll automatically find the OS on D:
