I'm having a strange problem with my RAID array. I have 2 Maxtor DM9+ 120Gb SATA disks on an onboard SIL3112 RAID controller. The other disk keeps disappearing from the array every now and then.
On boot I get "An incomplete RAID array" message, and it only shows 1 disk.
If I take out the good disk, and only plug the other one, controller sees it. I can then do a low level format, plug the good disk in and the controller sees them both. Then I can rebuild the array.
Its allways the same disk. Strange thing is, SMART says the disk is ok, aswell as Maxtors own diagnostic program. After low level format that is. If I don't do a low level format, only the controllers program sees it, but it does not show up in windows nor do the diagnostic programs find it.
This has happened 5 times already, so I'm fed up formatting it. Should I RMA it? Is it going bad...
AND, CAN I RMA it? If diagnostic shows its ok, then what? Somethings wrong with it, but what?
