I recently bought and built a new computer when the intel sandy bridge platform came out last month. Everything so far has been running smooth and without a problem. Today while browsing the internet, my computer locks up (does the fade to black and white) and restarts itself.
Upon booting I receive the message NTLDR is missing, press CTL, ALT, DEL to reboot. I google'd this error message and saw that it is a common boot error for Windows XP systems, however this computer has Windows 7 installed.
So I go to the BIOS (EFI) and look at the boot menu, to my surprise only one hard drive and DVD drive are showing in the boot order window. (I have an ASUS P8P67 Pro mobo) My OS is installed on my SSD a OCZ Vertex2 120G. I click on boot menu all of my drives show up and I click on the OCZ, my computer then boots to windows after showing me an error about the computer going into hibernation.
Once in Windows everything seemed fine, the computer recognized all of the hard drives and was running normally. I restarted the computer to make sure that it would boot correctly and the same message appeared and the computer wouldn't boot.
I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. It seems like the motherboard isn't detecting the HDD's but once Windows boots it has no problem seeing them. Any suggestions to what the problem might be and or solutions?
(Note* I am aware of the Sandy Bridge motherboards having problems with the 3GB/s SATA ports, I tried plugging my HDD's into only the 6GB/s ports but nothing seemed to change.)
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks
