Strange happenings with client

Another day another weird problem.
Using the command line client on a win 98 box, everytime I go to update I get a message that the client cannot access the MIDI port as it is being used by another program. If I cancel it works ok except when it goes to get another WU it does the same thing. I have no sounds assigned to anything on my machine. Anyone got any ideas??

I was getting some weird stuff too. A reboot worked with some, and ipconfig /renew_all with others...

Thanks I will try that, a reboot has not worked.I tried reconfiguring tcpip. What I dont understand is why the client would even look for a midi port.
By the way is the river froze up there yet??

What sound card do you have in that system?

The sound is a AC 97, on board.
