Hi,
I bought following config pc 3 months ago. Pc was working superfast until friday, it started hanging on welcome screen and then freezes in between using windows. So I reinstalled windows but it did not work. Even while installing windows it used to freeze a lot between setup. Also same happened with Linux installation. Then I called the dealer and explained the problem. He said, RAM could be problem and then even replaced it and then tested it in shop itself and everything went normal as per what he said.

I brought PC at home and then installed regular stuffs. But again next day after little use it started freezing again. Its freezing is like, it freeze for 3-4 minutes and then again resumes with pending commands. So we are totally blank about whats going on with it. In last 3 months, this problem never happened.

There is one more unusual thing. When I use in night it hangs very rarely but when I use during day/afternoon, it hangs terribly. So want to know if there is any heating issues or whatsover but i guess its very rare case. FYI, its running on Windows 7
Config:
I7 2600 @ 3.4 ghz
Gigaybyte UD4
ATI 5570 GPU
4GB Transcend RAM
500 GB SATA HDD
Altec 450 Watts

I would really appreciate if anyone provide any lead for the problem.

Thanks,

Is it cooler at night. if not probably your hdd starting to warn you.

Yeah, its summer season in India and days are hot and humid. Now its 9.03am in morning and it freezed once just a moment ago. But last night when I opened this post, it did not freeze even after using for about an hour. So what do you think?

pretty sure when your playing it is overeating.try leaving the side panel open and if you have a house fan.put it beside and see what happens.myself i would change the cpu heatsink. for a cooler master. and like stargazr make sure it's dust free

Now the status is, I again took it to the shop and it worked entire day there without any hangs. I guess heating is the problem as shop is fully AC and hence would not have shown the problem. But my question is why it did not show up these signs before, I mean in 2 months, it was working good. no hangs at all.

As of now, I am going to test it for 2-3 days and see what outcomes and also gonna install 120mm fans on the cabinet as per dealer's advise. But I am curious to know why it did not come up with problem in last 2 months?

In two months everything is clean and new. just a slim coat off dust make the difference.

Now again then.. its hanging.. its 12.37am here. the gadget in windows 7 showing 34% of RAm and 1% CPU Usage.

So what do you think, what should I do?
install cooler master heat sink or add new cabinet fans? also How can i deteremine its CPU heat and not the motherboard or GPU heating??

Based on those numbers, your system is NOT overheating.

Since you claim the PC shop has not been able to replicate this lock-up situation, you need to check your AC power at home. Are you running a UPS or line conditioner? Is your outlet properly grounded?

Yes I am running on a UPS. its APC..longs 20 minutes.
Now the status is, its not even loading windows at night. It stucks on "Starting Windows" screen. so posting from my bro's laptop.
I also tried touching gpu, motherboar and processor. GPU ATI 5570, is the hottest amongst them.
Also one of the engineer at shop saying, it may be problem with motherboard as heating problems are always with motherboards.
let me try all the power outlets at my home and will come back with what happens.

but guys please help me out, I am running on really tough situation here. its a peak time going on in my office.. lots of project work. I really really appreciate everyone single input here.

Yeah, its altec 450watts. Are you trying to say, the heating problem is with PSU..I don't understand, how come psu coul be at fault? What is its relation with freezing.

One more thing I forgot to add. When it freezes, the small red indicator(which is i guess for processing) becomes stable and when it unfreeze, it blinks like regular processing.

Also, yesterday, dealer gave me a sample graphic card(new one) for testing and problem persists even replacing new gpu. So GPU is also out of scenario.

If the capacitors in the power supply are overheating (or damaged) the power supply will not supply clean power to your pc.

hi there. My dealer installed new PSU. Actually its Antec and not Altec. It was working fine until few seconds ago, it got freezed again. this is totally freakk!!!!!
Yesterday my dealer had said to me to use the system for couple of days and if problem again comes then we will have to format entire hard disk. so now thats what I will have to do.

Hi there. I am totally tired with this nonsense thing happenning with my new pc. I formatted entire hard disk. Reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 2 times and problem of freezing hasn't gone yet. Now the next solution will be to take out motherboad. This is extremely ridiculous. In my 16 years of experience i never seen such a dirty problem. Now with confident I can say that, manufacturers have really lost their quality of creation, whether its Intel or whatever. Its totally pathetic. I spent my 3 weekends in this problem.
