I have a computer running barton core 2600 on an nforce2 motherboard. It is being used as a word/internet/email computer so nothing is ever being stressed for long periods of time. It freezes randomly even off of a fresh install. The freezing does not seem to occur due to cpu usage or any other stress that I can pinpoint. Temperatures are about normal. Right now I have two guesses what the problem could be:
Speedfan is reporting the 5 volt line of the power supply to be above 6.5 volts. For some reason the bios doesn't report the 5 volt line so I can't double check this. The power supply is a 350W antec that comes with their solution series.
The hard drive is a 10 gig a year or told older than the rest of the computer. It does not support SMART so I do not know how to test it.
What else can I look for?
