Strange font problem

Every now & then when in a program, I'll have in the list of fonts "sfhandle" and whenever that is selected, whatever program I am working in crashes.

Can't find anything on google, maybe there's an answer somewhere before I brute force figure out what font is screwing things up. But the bad font has been deleted before so even if I find it and remove it, there will come a day where I will likely see "sfhandle" again - hence I wish I knew what was happening.
 
It sounds like a piece of software that had some specialized font built in; there might be an registry entry or two referencing that font that you could edit out (this would be true of older software, even removing the font through the Fonts applet in Control Panel wouldn't completely delete references to it.)
