strange folder: !$!$!$!$.mp2

I'm running win98se, and I just noticed a folder C:\Program Files\!$!$!$!$.mp2 - what is it? where did it come from? before I installed win98SE (had FE), I had some massive FAT problems (I was trying to suspend / sleep and it kept crashing, so I guess that's why). If that is not the source, do you have any idea what the folder is? I renamed it and it hasn't been recreated and no errors have popped up.

the files in there are some from genome@home, mplayer2.exe, logagent.exe, and a bunch with really long names.
 
Do you remember the Golden Ticket from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? It's kind of like that.
