Did you say what your salary requirements are? That's probably what she needs if you didn't include it: the bottom line.

I sent my resume to a rather large company that my friend refered me to. Few days later I received an e-mail from hiring manager, asking me if I had a more detailed resume. That was it, just that one question. About the same time she also left a voicemail on my home number, asking me to call her.

I wasn't sure what exactly she meant by a more detailed resume - so I replied to her asking which areas of my resume she'd like for me to expand further. At the same time I called her and left a message, leaving my cell phone number for her to call.

Well, a week passes and nothing, which is weird because apparently they thought enough of me to e-mail and call me. So I e-mail her once again, asking if I'm still being considered for the position and what is the status of the whole process. Well, within 1 hour she replies, asking "have you sent me your detailed resume??????????????" Yes, she used all those question marks. Now, I'm confused because I asked her a question which she never answered. So one more time, I replied - asking her which area of the resume she would like to be more detailed. Because, honestly I'm not sure I understand what she means by more details. Well, over a day has passed and no reply. What do you guys take of this?

If I were you I wouldn't bother persuing that job any further. If you needed that job you should have tried to get in touch with her more than once in 1 week. From your post I got the impression that you don't really care for this job.

Why do you say that?

I replied to her e-mail and also called her on the phone and left a voicemail. Around 4-5 days later, I emailed her once again asking what's going on... How is that not pursuing it enough?

5 days is a lot of time once she got in touch with you. I would have tried to call atleast 2 more times within that 5 day period. It is employers market out there so if want a job you have to be proactive. Returning a phone and waiting 5 days is hardly pro-active in my opinion. Also you said your friend referred you for that job so you could have had that friend help you out.

Therein lies the rub... She wants something from you and hasn't provided enough detail for you to figure out what she wants. On the one hand, she wants more detail, but as you said - It's all there.

My question to you: Do you want to work someone that does not value clarity?

I think Mwilding has a point here. If this is indicative of what is to come with this company maybe you're better off looking elsewhere. Of course she may be deranged and everyone is else is fine but unless she isn't getting your emails for some reason as someone stated, then what else can you really do about it?
