Strange email from Anandtech moderator - Please Help!

Here is an strange email (and my reply) that I got this afternoon from an Anandtech moderator. Does anyone have any information on this "gonadsandstrife" person? I wouldn't want to be banned 🙁 Thanks for your help.

EDIT: Fixed a spelling mistake

From me to moderator:
------------------
Uh, I think you guys made some sort of mistake. My only other login name
is "vincey37" I signed up for aswedc because I was getting the
"Forbidden to
Post" messages and I thought I did something wrong. I later emailed a
moderator after I was having the same problems on aswedc and learned it was
because I am an AOL user. Maybe the user you are referring to is using the
same proxy I am to allow me to post? I use the program "Multiproxy"
that tests
a list of proxys to fid the best one. I also use Anonymizer on occasion. I
think that if you review my posts you wil realize that I try to be polite and
an asset to the forums. I have also changed my password in case someone has
hijacked my account. I found the tone of this email to be very harsh. Maybe
you should make sure of things before accusing people. I hope we can get this
worked out acceptably.

Sincerely,
aswedc

Oops. I am the Mod who emailed you. My first search of the IP address used by gonadsandstrife showed only your name and his. I just did another search using some other parameters, and I have found a couple of other possiblities.

My apologies. Mods make mistakes, too.
😱

I searched for all posts by username gonadsandstrife in all forums and found none, they have probably been deleted or you mis-spelled it. I'm sure the AnandTech Moderator didn't just guess it was you, they probably verify this stuff before e-mailing you with a warning like the one you received.

Good luck in getting this resolved if you are innocent, otherwise watch out for the mods wrath!

My theory: I think their "verification" was probably that I had the same IP as this other guy (and if I mispelled his name, so did the moderator - that was a cut n paste) which would have been caused by them using the same proxy as I do to hide my AOL identity. Other than that, its beyond me how this could have happened, unless some guy jumped on one of the public computers I've been on over the past week after I posted from there (library, hotel lobby, Ithaca College computer lab)

Next time you might want to wait for a mod's reply to your mail before posting it for all to see. Jmho. 🙂

At any rate, I can clear up for you at least as far as who gonadandstrife is/was. He/she (junior member) posted a link to an inappropriate site earlier today, which was deleted.

Hopefully the mods will be able to clear up the rest for you.
