Strange dll problem

I recently did a full reset on my desktop and now as I'm going back through the installers fro all my games, I'm finding that all of them refuse to run because of missing DLL files. If I'm installing them for the first time, why would they not reinstall those DLLs themselves?
Any ideas?

Reset of which OS?
What are the missing dll files it is complaining about?
Usually, if you reinstall the game (or whatever), it will also install those again.

Sorry, it's the Windows forum so I assumed it was clear. But it's 10.
I thought so too. But it's just not doing it with several different programs/software.
