Strange discoloration on rifle bolt

So I picked up a Stevens model 200 30-06 this week. When the scope was mounted the shop boresighted it. I just noticed that on the very rear of the bolt the black has turned slightly grey (note that this model has a different bolt design). My question is, is the discoloration something to be worried about? I'm thinking it might just be a spot they missed at the factory, but I am not really sure as I have never seen anything like it.

I'd need to see a pic, but it sounds like the blue didn't penetrate there. Gray doesn't sound like any rust, so you should be ok if you keep it oiled.

Thanks. It could be a light blue, I am half colorblind so who knows🙂. When examining it again it does just look like it was not completely painted. Is it something that should be sent back under warranty for?

I also happened to look at the bottom of the bottom of the bolt and there is a small spot that DOES look like rust on the stainless steel portion. Strange. It is in the back of the bolt where it would settle against the very back of the housing. I am going out to the range in the morning and will show that to them.

I wouldnt worry about it. Just a minor blemish, no worries. It could even be a fingerprint of some type, have you tried rubbing a rag over it?

The bolt on my rifle Winchester .300 Win Mag is like that except it's almost a dark brown color. It's almost as though it was anodized instead of blued like the rest of the gun. It is definitely a different shade than the rest of the rifle. I wouldn't worry about it though.
