When I put the TV itself on an input that has no live feed/incoming signal (AV1, AV2, Component, etc.) and is just showing a flat black screen, I get small variants of subtle contrast flashing. Maybe I shouldnt say flashing...more like subtle changes from a deep black to a lighter black.

What is causing this? It doesnt happen all the time, just once in awhile.

Interference? Wherever the metal is on the connector it's going to receive a broken radio signal (partly leftover from the Big Bang according to some paranoid people). I can get my local TV channel without hooking up an antenna. The RG-5 connector itself receives the signal. :Q The broken signal will have a broken vertical sync signal and your TV will try to display...stuff. Analog connections like YPbPr (Component) like you listed will experience this type of effect more than digital connections (e.g. DVI). Your CRT could also be still warming up. I turn on my CRT TV in my bed room, I see the picture subtly flashing just like you describe (but there's a picture). It evens out after a minute or so though, if I recall correctly of course.

Never thought of the interference issue. I did consider the warming up thing, but it happens sometimes after the TV has been on for a few hours and showed zero issues of it when first turned on. Its not that it is necessarlily bothersome as much as me being worried it is something that is broken.... or will be breaking:(
