So I've been doing some cleanup on my computer recently and I happened to glance at the Performance tab in the windows task manager. I noticed that my CPU usage was jumping up and down very rapidly. With nothing open at all (I just finished stripping unnecessary processes and startup programs too) it will constantly jump from about 2-5%ish to anywhere from 50%-100% every couple seconds. Causes a sort of up and down zig-zag pattern on the history. I took a look at my Processes tab and I noticed it is a program called WUSB54GC.exe. I did some research and it looks like this is just some sort of process for my USB wireless adapter. I really dont understand why it would have such an erratic cpu usage pattern and I have a hard time thinking this is normal. It doesnt have anything to do with the network traffic either, the Networking tab doesnt show any unusual amount of network traffic and I checked inside my router as well and there doesnt seem to be anything out of the ordinary there either. I ran all of my spyware/virus removal programs and the issue still persists.
Has anyone ever encountered this before? Do I need to be worried about this? Could it be some kind of indication of spyware/virus activity?
