Hello all of a suden i started haveing problems with my system that I have had toghether for quite sometime now. My guess would be just about a year. Anyways the problem started up yesterday when all of a suden every so often my computer would reset when i was in windows. After the second time it hapend i decided i beter have a look into it. I found that my cpu temp was at 59C. I look at my fan speeds also those are all fine and working just as they had in the past before this problem. So i turn of my system open the case up and have a look around. Didnt find anything out of the ordinary. Since it was late at night i turned my comp off and went to bed.

So now today i turn it on again and after it warms up i find the temp at 53C when my comp is ideling. I also take note of the case temp wich shows 32C. That is the same as it allways has been so no change there. I am runing a amd xp 2200+ A core with retail heatsink and artic silver thermal compound. My cpu before this hapend yesterday used to idel at 47C. What would cause this increase in heat all of a suden without the fans being an issue from what i can see.

Also for notice im runing 2 intake fans(sunnon 40cfm), one side intake fan(sunnon 40cfm), rear case output fan(sunnon 40cfm), pci slot blower card cooling video card, 350 watt sparkle psu, cpu heatsink fan at 5600 rpm. Plain baige enlight mid tower atx case(not sure of module number).

Its strange that your CPU temp has gone up but your case temp hasn't. You'd think that the CPU temp increase would increase the case temp somewhat.

Anyway, it sounds as if your case cooling is running ok (just in case, check the fans aren't clogged with dust or dirt).
Which would mean that the problem is with your heatsink. Check if the fins have dust between them and if the fan on top has too. If so clean them. Its also worth checking that your heatsink is seated properly. Have you moved or bumped your case recently? Its possible that the heatsink has slipped or tilted on the processor die and you aren't getting proper heat transfer.

Is your HS or case covered with dust? That can make a huge difference. If it is, clean it with compressed air. I have also heard people saying recently that a failing PSU can increase temperatures, but I dont know if it is true or not.

hrm i did find that there was a little bit of dust on the heatsink between the fan and the actual metal heatsink itself but its not that bad. I've seen worse :D
Anyways cleaning that out helped a little bit. Now Im at 50C. I did hapen to notice that the fan on the heatsink wobles a littlebit even though its runing at 5600 rpm. I'm wondering if replacing the elchepo green amd retail heatsink fan with something beter might help a little bit more? sugestions?

Well, it WILL help, for sure, if you got a new HSF...Just make sure you are willing to spend the cash.

wobbling would disturb the airflow and create turbulence ... maybe that the cause?

It doesn't take much dust to change the airflow of your HS significantly. I have an SLK-800a, and it gets cleaned weekly. I can tell by the temps when its time to check it out to see if it needs cleaning.

Those fins are really close together!
