Hey,
I am putting together a new computer and I am having some strange problems. Here are the core components of my system:
Celeron 633
Abit BE62
LeadTek WinFast Geforce2 MX
128Mb Ram
Here is what is happening...the first time I booted up my computer, it went smoothly, I have the harddrive from my last computer, so it went straight into windows and began configuring the new devices...after a few reboots, there was a very weird display on the screen, the screen went black but a thin strip about 1 inch long down the middle was displaying garbage. I rebooted and everytime I turned back on there was no display, though it booted up fine into windows.
Anyway, I tried a million things..putting another video card in, different ram, different monitor, all the same thing happened. I waited a day and tried again and it worked for about as long as it did last time before crapping out. Thinking it might be something with the agp slot on the motherboard, I sent it back and got a new one in today, the same thing happened...it worked the first time for awhile and then the display fuzzed out. If I wait a couple hours and try again, it will work for a little bit.
It looks like an overheating problem as it seems time related, but I have no idea what it can be? I tried different case power supplys, out of the case, etc.. Running thin on ideas.
Has anyone experienced anything like this or have any ideas as to what I should be trying??
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
