I cannot explain it but on 1 Windows 10 desktop and 2 Windows 10 Surface Pro 7's I have no issue, but on my Surface 6 running Windows 10 I get the following error when trying to log into Citi's website (literally www.citi.com):

Your browser is out of date and not supported.

Windows 10 and Firefox are on all devices and up to date running the exact same operating system and same web browser and only extension (Ublock origin). On all devices except this one Surface Pro do I get a banner at the top of the website immediately, AND I cannot login (fails authentication).

Any ideas?

Weird.

My first suspicion would be a corrupted user profile or some type of malware (i.e. I've seen that "Your web browser is out of date and not supported" message once on a look-a-like pfishing site that prompted you to download a "updated" version that was obviously infested with malware of some sort). You might also try to go into about.config and try resetting the browser agent to defaults (you can see what it is currently set to under about:support ).

Does it happen to give you the same error if you try to log in from a private window with all installed extensions disabled?

I'm presuming using another browser works, so the problem is just Firefox-related?

Here's one theory: You opted into DoH (DNS over HTTPS) when the option popped up in Firefox (uses cloudflare), and didn't on the problem device, so that one is using your ISP or router's DNS, and possibly your router's DNS setting was highjacked?

Wither DoH is used or not had no effect on this problem. Also, this particular Surface Pro was reset to factory condition, and then all updates applied, FF installed and updated to be in sync with the other devices working properly.

Slight update ... now on this Surface Pro I can't get in using Chrome either, nor Edge. Yet, I had zero problems with the two SP7's and my iPhone. Something is just damned on the SP6. All other accounts have no problem but the Citi is unique. I'll reset it once again back to factory and then put it into the trash.

Is it keeping the correct time/date? I vaguely remember working on an earlier model SP (I think it was either 4 or 5) for somebody once that only used theirs infrequently. The clock was loosing time, and it would stop working with some sites (eventually getting to the point where it wouldn't even connect to the Internet). They ended up having to do a warranty exchange on it.

Before tossing it in the trash, you might try a USB nano WIFI module on it. If it works, sell it for a few bucks (or give it to someone) instead of throwing it away.

Yes, it is. Surprising because my desktop Win10Pro doesn't and I have to resync it on each boot. But the SP's, all three of them, keep time.

UPDATE: On the Mozilla forums I read about someone's efforts and he stated how FF v85 worked but the current 89 did not with Citi.com. So, I went and found, downloaded and installed version 85 and had no problems logging into Citi.com's website. So, it is in something that changed between v85 and v89 (I think it was fine up to v88) that something changed and Citi's website mis-identifies the FF version, claims it is out of date and prohibits access. And its in correlation with only the version 6 of the Surface Pro.
