Strange CDRom problems in XP !

Since upgrading to XP, everytime i try to install a game, the system reboots or has problems reading the disc and reports errors in the disc. But when i try to install the game on a computer with win98 it works fine. I haven't been able to install anything new on my computer. I have a pioneer DVD Rom drive and a Plextor 12/10/32 drive, problem occurs with both of these drives. Any Ideas??!?!?
