Strange behavior when syncing my mobile device

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue when syncing or plugging in a mobile device in Vista32/64.

When I plug in my IPAQ, the system goes through the syncing process just fine. However, if i keep the device plugged in, any window I have active "blinks". It's the only way i can explain it. For instance, I'll be typing an email, and as I type the screen will go inactive for a second or two, so anything i type for that pause doesn't register.

If I unplug the device, it may continue, or I have to reboot. It's kinda driving me crazy. Anyone figure out how to fix it, please advise.
